The Iowa Caucus
I have to admit, I feel pretty good this morning. Fred did better than expected, and I really don't think the "Huckabee bump" is going to last. But the best thing was Hillary Clinton coming in 3rd, almost 10 points behind Obama. That just has to be humiliating for Mrs. "I'm Inevitable." Ol' Barack better watch his back, because the claws are going to come out big time now.
Saw this in the comments over at Michelle Malkin's blog, and thought it was a good summation of the situation. The writer was responding to a comparison of Huckabee with Jimmy Carter:
Huckleberry Hound is no conservative, but he is not an antisemite who shares an award with terrorist Yassir Arafat either.
Huckabee is a good, decent man who is totally unqualified to be President, especially as a conservative.
Carter is lacking as a human being.
Besides, the Iowa people are about to be cast off quicker than a woman after midnight by an Arkansas Governor (not Huckabee).
Especially the second part..."Huckabee is a good, decent man who is totally unqualified to be President, especially as a conservative." I think that sums it up in a nutshell. It's not possible for me to dislike the man, and for the record I think he would be better than any Democrat in the race, but still...he's not *nearly" fiscally conservative enough. It's going to be interesting to see how he does in the next few caucus states.
