He Meant OUR Brothers, Not HIS

This was a loose end I never quite got to from the Saddlesore Forum last weekend, mainly because my take was a lot less credulous than Jay Ambrose':

“Americans’ greatest moral failure in my lifetime,” [Obama] said, “has been that we still don’t abide by that basic precept in Matthew that whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you do for me.”

Sorry, but he can hang that one up. Whatever the case is with his own selfishness, the evidence of an internationally superior American generosity is impressive, beginning with the numbers on our charitable giving. We give twice as much as the British per capita, and according to The American magazine, seven times as much as the Germans and fourteen times as much as the Italians.

Even in inflation-adjusted dollars, the amount given each year just keeps getting larger, and meanwhile, we do far more volunteer work than in other industrialized countries.

All true.  That's REAL generosity, PERSONAL charity.  It is most accurate to say that the American PEOPLE are the most generous on the face of the planet.

But that is NOT the kind of "generosity" to which St. Barry was referring.  His concept of charity, like that of then-UN Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Jan Egeland in the wake of the December 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, flows entirely through the prism of the welfare state.  Because We, The People do not wish to be taxed to death nor trust people like him to exercise our generosity for us, and because BO sees the state as the fount of all beneficience, we are, ipso facto, "stingy," as well as "morally abhorrent."  Or, in other words, the same tired old classism wrapped in the tattered shawl of faux moral supremacism.

And like all moral supremacists, The One is, as on so many other issues, the biggest hypocrite of all:

That would be Lucifer's half-brother, named, ironically enough for both Bushophobes and Liberace fans, George:

The Italian edition of Vanity Fair said that it had found George Hussein Onyango Obama living in a hut in a ramshackle town of Huruma on the outskirts of Nairobi.

Mr. Obama, 26, the youngest of the presidential candidate's half-brothers, spoke for the first time about his life, which could not be more different than that of the Democratic contender.

"No-one knows who I am," he told the magazine, before claiming: "I live here on less than a dollar a month."

Perhaps George Obama is a proud man and does not want any assistance from his misbegotton big half-brother - which, I suppose, would make him the, er, black sheep of the family for eschewing the moral imperative of orthodox socialism.  He does say that he is "ashamed" and has denied being related to Barry.  That's ostensibly a reference to his poverty, but if you were George, and your rich, famous, powerful half-sibling had looked you up all of once in his adult life, while on a 2006 senatorial junket to east Africa, and not even offered to do jack squat for you before, at the time, or since, wouldn't some of that shame stem from what a callous, lying skinflint your big bro turned out to be when the succor would have come from his OWN pocket?

As Will Rogers once said, "I can remember back to a time when politicians were generous with their OWN money."  Pity virtually nobody alive today can say that - and that pharisiacal blind guides like the Chosen One never will.
