Blood In The Water

....attracts barracudas.

First, can you believe Barry O actually dropped his boycott of Fox News....?:

....to peddle the latest Obama parallel quantum Iraq reality that yes, okay, you win, the Surge succeeded.  But nobody - and Ba-ROCK means NOBODY! - anticipated that it would.  Everybody - and Ba-ROCK means EVERYBODY! - believed it would fail.  So, you see, he wasn't wrong to oppose the Surge and talk it down relentlessly, mindlessly, and irrationally for the past twenty months, because if EVERYBODY is wrong, than NOBODY is.  I think.

Watch Barracuda slurp up this load of chum:

You know, I have to wonder if, far from McCain overshadowing Governor Palin, he now runs the risk of being overshadowed by her.  Not deliberately, of course, but in coming off like an ancient potted plant by comparison.  The past few days, most especially in the reaction to his acceptance speech the night after her blockbuster, Sailor has almost become a fifth wheel to his own "Straight Talk Express."  It's almost like he's her political chaperone, or the parent that always seems to hover over or around underage pro tennis stars.  Sarah is, after all, McCain's running mate, not the reverse.  If he weren't too shrewd to be so recklessly presumptuous, you could almost wonder if he was going to announce his serving a single term and designating her his handpicked successor even before Election Day.  You can't rule out the likelihood that such thinking was built into her selection.

John McCain, in other words, doesn't just want to lead America; he wants America's future as well, and it's becoming increasingly clear that, barring some genuine blockbuster scandal that I can't believe wouldn't have come out long ago given the way SP opened a can of "maverick-ass" all over her home state, she is going to have a significant influence on the GOP and the country long after Sailor has flown his last mission.

Think of him as her trainer, before she flies solo.

But if the past week is any indication, she's already a natural.
