A Full-Ayers

You know, like "full nelson"....

At any rate, Team Sith now appears to be fully intent on applying this hold to Barack Hoover Obama's scrawny neck - to the exclusion of just about every other hold in their repetoire:

Can't get much more "in your face" than that spot.  Except, you know, for doing it at next week's rubber debate.

The son of one of Bill Ayers' victims is making the talk show rounds:

It's kind of a shame that Mr. Murtaugh isn't still nine years old, as his younger self would be a much more potent weapon on this issue than he is now.

And lest you get the misimpression that Barracuda has been relegated back to the sidelines, she's still whaling away at the Obama-Ayers pinata as well:

The Republican National Committee is doing its part, too:

And The Chosen One's latest pants-pooping excuse?  "“I assumed that he had been rehabilitated.”  Was this before or after "the NYT interview published on 9/11 in which he said he was sorry he hadn’t done more as a Weatherman?"  Three years after which Ayers and Obama were, of course, still in regular contact.

And now, the ski-boot-sized caveat you just knew as you got your hopes up throughout this post was going to fall sometime.  It grows out of my excruciatingly deliberate choice of words above: the distinction between "Team Sith" and Darth Queeg:

In response to a broad question about how Barack Obama “got here” — presumably got his lead — John McCain didn’t name Bill Ayers but spoke of him directly. McCain said “We don’t care about an old washed up terrorist and his wife” who said earlier this decade that he wished they were more successful [in their terrorist attacks]. (Several in the crowd chanted: “Yes we do!”

...but, rather, "we" DO care about Obama lying about it.  Except that if McCain doesn't care about Obama's association with an unrepetentant communist terrorist - who was attacking Lord Queeg's precious country at the very same time that he was enduring seven years of hell in the Hanoi Hilton for it - then what the hell does it matter if Obama is less than candid about it?

What does this mean?  It means that Team Sith's "Full Ayers" on B.O. wasn't McCain's idea, but was urged upon him by his campaign braintrust.  Heck, it was probably urged upon him six months ago, and he only grudgingly agreed to "go there" now because he's all but got the proverbial fork stuck in him.  And yet he still can't make himself stay on the needed message and refrain from undermining it.

Ace, as is his want, calls this "chickenshit":

If you're making an issue of Obama's association with a terrorist, you cannot simultaneously proclaim you're doing nothing of the sort. It doesn't fly....

The problem is that McCain is -- from his own mouth -- asserting that Ayers doesn't matter. That it is, in Obama's favorite word, a mere "distraction" from the "real issues."

So while McCain is attempting to make an issue of Ayers, he's on record, in the same speeches and commercials, telling the public Oh, by the way, this doesn't matter; disregard it entirely.

Dude, commit. Own it. This half-hearted attempt to save your reputation with the Media Elite you once called friend is going to be the epitaph on your political tombstone.

If you don't think Ayers is worth mentioning, don't mention him.

If you do think this is important, then say so, and stop equivocating in order to appease a Media Elite who despise you and always will.

As Yoda said: "Do, or do not. There is no try."

It's not John McCain's fault that the Democrat Financial Logic Bomb went off seven weeks before HIS presidential election.  Quite the opposite, in fact.  Heretofore he was actually on course to pull off a dramatic upset.  And it's entirely possible, even probable, that nothing he could do or say between now and November 4th would make any difference.

But if there is, we know what it is.  And John McCain simply is not the right man for this particular mission.

I don't hate saying "I told you so" to the thoughtless Pachyderms who handed Benedict the nomination instead of Fred Thompson or Mitt Romney or Rudy Giuliani; I hate being put in the position to HAVE to say it for the next four years (at minimum).  Because what Barack Hoover Obama and the Democrat Party are going to do to this country will far exceed anything Bill Ayers ever dreamed of.

And that, my friends, is going to matter - A LOT.
