Health Wars (9/2/09)

We took their land and stuck them with BarryCare....

Remember that Indian with the one tear running down his cheek from that 1970s PSA?  I bet he'd be flipping Red Barry and the Dems the double bird these days.

Which is more likely: this....

Obama is considering detailing his health-care demands in a major speech as soon as next week, when Congress returns from the August recess. And although House leaders have said their members will demand the inclusion of a public insurance option, Obama has no plans to insist on it himself, the officials said.

“We’re entering a new season,” senior adviser David Axelrod said in a telephone interview. “It’s time to synthesize and harmonize these strands and get this done. We’re confident that we can do that. But obviously it is a different phase. We’re going to approach it in a different way. The president is going to be very active.” …

On health care, Obama’s willingness to forgo the public option is sure to anger his party’s liberal base. But some administration officials welcome a showdown with liberal lawmakers if they argue they would rather have no health care law than an incremental one. The confrontation would allow Obama to show he is willing to stare down his own party to get things done.

....or a reiteration of this?:

Seems a no-brainer to me.  This is a man who has spent his entire run as a candidate and so far in office preaching socialized medicine, the last few months festooned with stunningly risible falsehoods that have shattered his credibility outside the hard Left.  Trying to triangulate this late in the game would only breed more contemptuous laughter from his majority critics while incensing his easily-incensed zomby-ized extremist base.  With his approval numbers already hovering in the mid-40s, he doesn't dare take that risk, particularly when it wouldn't improve the chances of passing either full-blown BarryCare or the achievable incremental changes that should have been his focus to begin with.

Ensign Morrissey makes a good point that if there was a pivot point where Dr. Chicago could have triangulated, it would have been the lifeline of reality offered him by the CBO when it issued its understated but still budget-busting BarryCare cost projections two months ago.   Instead the White House treated the CBO like traitors to the cause and even tried to bully them into bringing their numbers into conformity with the Obamunist party line.  In so doing, they reinforced and cemented the public impression of this administration as hard-core Marxist on the worst possible issue on which to be seen that way.  Whether the Li'l President "insists" on a public option in next week's address to Congress or merely "strongly urges" it or actually "goes to war" with his own supporters, that die has been forever cast, along with the disastrous long term political consequences.

Behold, the voice of evil-mongering, rabble-rousing, mobesque sedition:

Would it be "uncivil" of me to state the obvious, to wit, that Carol Shea-Porter is an insufferable, intolerant, tyrannical, one-term douchebaggerous cunt?  Could I care any less if it is?

The next Senate Donk Leader after Dirty Harry's scrawny, wrinkled ass is sent back to Lighthouse, folks:

On the other hand, why does Ali Dickbar al-Durbini need to know the details of BarryCare - other than, you know, to avoid looking like an idiot on the off chance that somebody might actually challenge him once in a while?  All he needs to know is the end result: a government takeover of the health care sector.  That's the forest he's looking for; the trees are irrelevant.

And besides, Durbini can always ram through an unrelated amendment to the moehair subsidy bill banning anybody questioning him on legislation ever again on penalty of losing their BarryCare coverage.  See how well that circle gets the square?

Read the bill!  Read the bill!  Read the bill!:

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s town hall meeting in suburban Maryland Tuesday evening dissolved into chaos, with attendees at several points bringing the event to a complete halt. …

Hoyer reacted to the barbs calmly, explaining how proposals were being discussed and trying to assuage his constituents of their concerns.

But Hoyer at times seemed exasperated.

“Let me just say this,” Hoyer said. “Read the bill.”

“We have!” a few people yelled back.

And he hasn't, any more than Senator al-Durbini, or he'd be aware of inconvenient facts like this:

In its subsection on health insurance subsidies (known as “affordability credits”), HR 3200 does state, “Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.” That would seem to solve the problem, but it’s more rhetoric than reality. The bill contains no verification requirement or enforcement process for citizenship or legal residency, as exists for other federal benefit programs. The only verification required for the subsidies pertains to family income. Beyond that, as the CRS report notes, everything is left in the hands of the Health Choices Commissioner.

House Democrats defeated all attempts in committee to add an enforcement mechanism that would require proof of citizenship or legal residency for those getting subsidies.

In other words, nothing specifically entitles illegals to access BarryCare, but nothing forbids it, either.  Which is to say, BarryCare cannot help but include all twelve million (and counting) "undocumented immigrants" in The One's shiny, new dole.

If Hoyer thinks HE's exasperated....

How bad is it for False Messiah now?  Even in a CNN poll of "adults," BarryCare is underwater.  All of which goes to show that while the American people may have a high tolerance for "bullshit" in the abstract, that easy-going attitude evaporates when it's force-fed down their throats with a backhoe.

So who's fault is this debacle?  According to a leading Obamunist, who else?  The Obamedia!:

Healthcare reform supporters can't rely on the media to debunk myths about legislation, the director of President Obama's political arm said Tuesday.

In an email to supporters, Organizing for America (OFA) Director Mitch Stewart encouraged recipients to "double our own efforts to get the truth out" about healthcare reform.

"Over the past few months, two things have become clear about the fight for health insurance reform," Stewart wrote. "1. Our opponents will create and spread outrageous lies to try to stop President Obama from creating real change. 2. We just can't count on the media to debunk them."

The president had blamed the media for helping propagate some of the "misinformation" about his healthcare plans, saying "part of the reason it spreads is the way reporting is done today."

You know what's really eerie about that quote?  You can't help getting the feeling that Stewart really believes what he's saying.  If you ever wondered what the REAL Messiah meant when he used the term "blind guides," let this serve as some devastating insight.  Looks like Red Barry isn't the only one who has become hopelessly enslaved to his own overblown hype.

What'll False Messiah do after BarryCare dies?  What else - take it out on Wall Street, of course!  Why not, since Hogzilla has "saved" the economy, assuming you have the right super-duper secret decoder ring and opened the number of Crackerjack boxes corresponding to the theoretical number of jobs "saved or created" fabricated on the right day and time according to the same formula they used to announce Joe Biden as B.O.'s running mate last summer.  Or maybe it's according to the algorithm that correlates each hundred billion dollar deficit increment with each tenth of a percent of lost GDP in reverse.

Okay, he just enjoys doing to Wall Street via government regulation what Osama bin Laden would like to do to Manhatten with a suitcase nuke.  Hey, African-American men are extra prone to hypertension, you know; Barry O can't afford to hold in that magnitude of aggrievedness.  Call it "wellness by example".

And while I'm sure Mike Pence wishes Comrade Hussein the best of health, that doesn't mean he's going to make it easy for him:

I love the "blood in the water" reference.  I love HR2520, which is health care reform we can believe in.  Now if only some noodleheaded RINO can be restrained from swooping in at the last possible moment and throwing a lifeline that can seize victory from the jaws of defeat....

Aw, shit.
