Irreconcilable
Isn't Kent Conrad the chairman of the Senate committee that would be the launching pad for an ObamaCare reconciliation cramdown? Something tells me this is not what the White House wanted to hear:
It is, however, reality - if, you know, actual Senate rules are still going to apply to this insanity. It's why Donks pooh-poohed reconciliation up until now - they didn't want to completely poison the legislative and political wells unless and until they couldn't nationalize the medical sector any other way. With the election of Scott Brown to the Kennedy Family Senate Seat, now there is no other way. Only Conrad is saying there's no way period.
Does that mean he won't play ball if/when the time comes? I wouldn't count on that. But the more immediate issue is what affect Conrad's words will have on House Dems, who, in the aggregate, pretty much loathe the Senate version of ObamaCare for one reason or another and are less than entirely trustful that the promised reconciliation "fixes" will be forthcoming after a kamikaze plunge into the midterm abyss. They HAVE to go first and take that leap of faith, and if Crazy Nancy can't scrounge up 217 votes this time, Senate reconciliation shenanigans will become irrelevant.
UPDATE: Here's the "map" to victory for ObamaCare - and it goes straight through Stupakville.
