Legislators couldn’t finish the people’s business during their 60
allotted days, so they’ll come back on Monday at a cost of slightly less than
$20k per day. Creating jobs and balancing the budget are what they claim they
want to accomplish.
It’s almost unbelievable! Leaders in the majority
party spent the last 60 days spending more money and increasing taxes and fees
for us, and precious little time making hard budget-cutting choices. Listen to
what I think about "the birds" by clicking on the video to the right.
Furthermore, government does not create jobs any more than corporations
pay taxes. People create jobs and people pay taxes.
But while they are
taking a small break, you might want to contact them. You can do that by
clicking on the link or calling the number at the top and bottom of this email.
Here are
some resources for you to review before you contact your state lawmakers. If you
haven’t watched it already, click on the video to the left and listen to Bob
Williams explain the budget and why we don’t need tax increases. Then there’s
Bob’s new piece on the real Financial State-of-the State. You can read it online. This data will come in handy when
legislators tell you they did not increase spending—because they did. Sadly,
some of them might not really understand this. Those lawmakers should be
retired.
Scott St. Clair has a great new story on legislative
mismanagement of the state worker benefit fund. You can read it online. The fund is close to insolvency
thanks to the bungling of the majority of legislators. It’s so bad that the
Insurance Commissioners office said it could be put into receivership if it were
a private company. Scott describes how the fund was drained and what will be
needed to get it back in the black.
Then there are the Congressional
Bunions. Bunions are a progressive disorder and
usually get worse over time. They generally form from a faulty
mechanical structure, and they cause improper
leaning (of the big toe).
And we need to call, write, and
email the Congressional Bunions who are appear to be leaning
improperly when it comes to the pending anti-reform health care
package. www.DickMorris.com has a list of the thirty he says
are wavering. Michael Medved spent part of his program on Friday urging one
million people to contact “leaning” members of
Congress. I sent my missives yesterday. We need to encourage them not to become
a bigger part of the progressive disorder.
This mess can be turned around by a new crop of courageous legislators.
That means we can’t elect anyone whose desire to get re-elected trumps
good policy judgment. We will have voting record data and questions to ask
candidates soon!
Sincerely,
Lynn Harsh, CEO | | |
