Welcome to my new blog powered by Movable Type. This is the first post on my blog and was created for me automatically when I finished the installation process. But that is ok, because I will soon be creating posts of my own!

Actually, it's not a new blog; it's the same blog that has been rolling along since June of 2004.  The only thing that's changed is the venue.  Our old venue - Google/Blogger - let our site fall apart over the past several months, were of next to no help fixing it, and I certainly don't have the time to sit down and try to figure it all out myself - though had I the time, I'm sure I could.  But why bother when it's the perfect opportunity to upgrade, as I've wanted to do for years but never had a good enough reason to do?

Incidentally, I didn't finish the installation process of MT v 4.0; our new hosting service did that for me, which was the whole point of signing up with a hosting service.  Now all that's left for me to do is customize the entire template and design, upload a ton of files, import nearly five thousand posts from our old blogger site, and update all the links, memberships, and blogrolls we're on under the old URL.

Piece 'o cake, right?

Or maybe pain in the ass.  But it's now definitely the lesser of two evils.  And I DO have all week to work on it - amongst an avalanche of other long-deferred tasks.

BTW, be sure to bid hail & farewell to Melody, because you'll never see her on this site again.

But at least her name wasn't "Hillary"....
